Login Instructions for Non-HIDOE Staff

Full-time HIDOE staff should use the HIDOE Staff Login.


These instructions are for non-HIDOE staff (i.e. Charter school teachers, external collaborators), substitutes or part-time staff.

Log In to Canvas


URL: https://canvas.k12.hi.us

Click Students/Other Users button
Enter your Username and Password

Click Log In

If you do not know your username and password, please contact your course contact or submit a ticket to the HVLN Support Center.




You will then be logged into Canvas.

If you do not see any courses on your Dashboard, please contact your course contact or submit a ticket to the HVLN Support Center.

Update your email address


Once you are logged in, you will want to check and update your email address.

Click your Account icon

Choose Settings

On the right side, under 'Ways to Contact',
you can add an Email Address. For more information about adding an email address, please see Canvas Help.

Note: If you have an employee ID, the default email in Canvas is your employeeid@k12.hi.us. If you do not have access to this email account, please add an alternative email address so you will receive course communication.

Once you add an alternative email you can then verify it and make it the default email address. For more information about changing your default email address, please see Canvas Help.

Change your Password


On the right side, under 'Ways to Contact'

Click Edit Settings


Check the box next to Change Password

Complete the password fields and click Update Settings

Note: If you have an employee ID account (8-digit number), you will not be able to update your password. Please contact the HVLN Support Center for assistance.
