This article will explain how to manually submit a paper outside of Canvas.
The default method to submit papers to Turnitin is via a Canvas assignment. However, it is possible to run a Similarity Report on a paper outside of Canvas.
Click "Submit" under "More Actions" at the right of the desired assignment.
Choose the desired student's name under "Author" which will auto-populate the First and Last name. You may enter anything you wish under "Submission Title".
Select the file you wish to submit from your computer or Google Drive, and finally click Upload.
You will then be asked to confirm you wish to upload the file.
Once submitted, you can view the Similarity Report on the course assignment screen by clicking "View" next to the desired assignment.
Then click on the assignment name link under "Title" or the colored rectangle to view the submitted Similarity Report for the desired student.
